FLY UTAH! (book)
[2]
$59.95

A treasure trove of backcountry airstrips in what may be the last aviation frontier of the American West. Exploration and discovery is what Fly Utah! is all about. Don’t expect paved foot trails with cutesy little informational signs here. Be the first to explore ancient Anasazi cliff dwellings or squeeze through a thousand-feet-deep, 2-foot-wide slot canyon. Eat a mutton burger and share a sandstone cave with a Fundamentalist LDS Saint (along with his 4 wives and 38 children). Search for the lost gold mines of the Spanish Conquistadors and trade at an authentic Indian trading post – far off the beaten tourist path.

Airstrips range from a challenging 500’ overgrown strip clinging to a sandstone cliff to an exquisite 1900’ long, thin-air mountain strip at 9200’ elevation with several mild-mannered ones (and even a couple paved strips) mixed in for variety. Lots of primitive airplane camping and a few top-notch lodges and resorts.

950 pages, 83 airstrips (57 of which are previously uncharted)
